Forever Comes to an End feature seven songs, with inspiration from classic rock, prog and movie scores. Bjørn’s unique guitar playing has a centre role, with soaring leads, heavy riffs and beautiful textures.
Lyrically, the album deals with broken relationships and loss and the emotional duality between resentment and forgiving.
Forever Comes to an End is written and produced by Bjørn Riis, engineered by long-time collaborator, Vegard Kleftås Sleipnes and features guest appearances from Airbag and Oak.
Bjørn Riis is one of the founding members, the lead guitarist and main songwriter of the highly successful Norwegian band Airbag.
With their critically acclaimed albums, “Identity” (2009), “All Rights Removed” (2011), “The Greatest Show on Earth” (2013) and “Disconnected” (2016), all on Karisma Records, Airbag has become a major act in the prog scene.
The band has played on some of the biggest festivals, including Night of the Prog (Loreley, Germany) and Cruise to the Edge (Miami, USA) and shared the bill with many great acts, including Saga, Spock’s Beard, Anathema, Yes and Marillion.
Bjørn’s musical journey goes back to his very early teens and bands like Kiss and Black Sabbath and the heavy guitar oriented side of the 70s classic rock era. A few years later, a new world of progressive rock came into his life, with Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Marillion and Genesis. Other genres, like electronica and movie scores, has also played huge role in forming Bjørn’s music.
Forever Comes to an End is very much a tribute to all of these influences. From the dark and dirty riffs of Toni Iommi and Zakk Wylde, to the emotional playing of David Gilmour and Steven Rothery. The melodic and sombre voice of Steven Wilson and Tim Bowness and the cinematic landscapes of composers like Thomas Newman and John Barry.
Bjørn is also a highly respected guitarist within the internet guitar community, with his own blog followed by thousands of fans each week.
Forever Comes to an End is available on CD, vinyl and digital download from Karisma Records.
